The week of Rachel and Lukes wedding, Rachel and I met up at my studio in Minneapolis to talk about the timeline for the day and all of the fun details of her wedding! Like any bride, she was checking the forecast every day, and there was a chance of thunderstorms on her wedding day! We ended up making a 'Plan A' and 'Plan B', in case of severe weather… and needless to say, I walked into Raydiance Salon the morning of the wedding and with the biggest smile on her face she said, "KATE! I think we're going with Plan B!!!" like nothing was going to ruin her day! I loved the fact that she was more focused on marrying the man of her dreams than letting a little bit of rain get in the way of her fairytale! That's the kind of bride I ADORE!!
Something about this rainy day wedding makes me smile. (Most likely because Rachel's smile is SO contagious!) But also because rainy day weddings are always fun for me because its a challenge. It's a time where I get to push my limits and do things I wouldn't necessarily do on sunny days to get a good shot. It's a really big learning experience and I love that, because I never want to stop learning, growing, and being a better photographer than I was yesterday. I am so thankful that Rachel and Luke trusted me 100% to take their pictures in front of the awning of their church, with rain pouring and winds thrashing just a few feet away from them!
Huge shout out to my second shooter for the day (and best friend for life), Emilee Elofson! Not only was she a gem to spend the day with, but she also got some rad shots for me! Thanks Em!
